Who it suits

Is Carlsbad right for you?

Carlsbad suits buyers who want to be near the sand without giving up a garage, a yard and a newer kitchen. People who work from home, golfers, and anyone who likes a flat beach walk at sunset tend to stay for decades.

What the homes are like

Close to the beach you will find cottages, condos and newer three-story homes on small lots. A mile or two inland, most homes were built from the 1980s onward, with planned streets, community pools and homeowner associations. Ocean-view homes in Aviara and near the Village sell well above the citywide median.

A perfect Saturday in Carlsbad

  1. Coffee in Carlsbad Village, then a walk along the seawall
  2. A paddle or a trail walk at one of the three lagoons
  3. Sunset from the bluff at Tamarack Beach
